GIANT WOMAN???[]

First you need a gem at the core of your being. Then you need a body that can turn into light. Then you need a partner you can trust with that light. |

—Garnet, "We Need to Talk" |
Many assume Jasper is a fusion, due to Malachite's immense size. Well, nah. Jasper has one gemstone, and is therefore a singular Gem.
Garnet tells us that Gems' bodies are primarily composed of light produced by their gem. When Gems fuse, their bodies, or light constructs, become one. Hence, Garnet's size, or light, is a result of Ruby and Sapphire's light amount. Steven, Sapphire and Ruby appear to be equal in size, so Ruby and Saph probably generate a small amount of light compared to Jasper and Lapis Lazuli. Further, Gems can take on anything they want. Malachite's size/light is simply a combination of Jasper and Lapis' light.
Confirmed Theory[]
It was confirmed in the book "Guide to the Crystal Gems" that Jasper isn't a fusion, she is a quartz.
